Heritage Day is a unique and interesting opportunity for school teachers and parents to come together in order to take stand against bigotry, racism, and cultural divide at the earliest level.
On the last day before Thanksgiving break – ask students to bring in a story, clothing, dance, song, or food from their heritage. Create an interesting curriculum around this – maybe a cultural potluck, or an essay contest, or a show and tell presentation. Whatever it is – make it fun and interesting for kids to learn about their heritage and the heritage of others.
